Ambiental is always on the lookout for talented graduates with skills in GIS, computer programming, flood modelling / fluid mechanics, insurance, remote sensing, and civil engineering. Advanced degrees in specialist subjects are desirable but not a prerequisite.

Technical Analyst

Reporting to the Technical Director, the company is looking to recruit a Technical Analysts who will be responsible for building global flood risk models and maps.

They will provide technical / GIS support, analyse and collate data, correspond and market to existing and potential clients and provide administrative assistance where necessary.

Ambiental are looking for a confident, motivated and enthusiastic candidate with excellent interpersonal and writing skills.

The role is Brighton based – currently at the Innovation Park within Sussex University.

Requirements (Essential): GIS Software (ArcGIS / QGIS / MapInfo etc.), IT Literate, Report writing skills, can work well in a team.

Requirements (Desirable): Postgraduate student. Physical Geography / Environmental Science / Natural Hazards/ Computer Science related degree.

Hours:  full time office hours. 9 – 5.30pm (1 Hour lunch)

Contract Length:  6 months (to support a major project) – Immediate start

Salary: £18,000 pa (pro rata)

Senior Environmental Consultant

As a Senior Environmental Consultant, you will become a key part of the existing consulting team; producing predominantly Flood Risk Assessments for planning and other purposes and crucially, checking and authorising the work of more junior members of staff.

As such, an experience of leading projects and a full understanding of current flood risk planning policies are critical.

For this role, you will be degree educated in BSc. (or ideally MSc.) Geography/Environmental Science/Natural Hazards/Environmental Engineering. You will have an understanding of the commercial elements of consultancy, and will be confident speaking with potential clients and developing new business.

You will also have the following experience:

  • Experience leading consultancy projects;
  • Commercial awareness and client relationship management skills;
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communications skills;
  • Project and time management skills and ability to self-manage;
  • Willingness to contribute to developing and training more junior members of the team;
  • Experience of Flood Modeller Pro / ISIS tuflow / or similar;
  • The ability to work in a team and contribute proactively.

Ideally, candidates will also have experience or exposure to one or more of the following:

  • Surface water drainage schemes;
  • SUDS;
  • Ecology;
  • Groundwater;
  • Environmental Impact Assessment.
