Despite the news last week that Rio de Janeiro has adopted an early warning system to help forewarn of severe floods, the city has this week been hit by another round of unexpected flooding. Elsewhere in the world, severe floods have also displaced thousands of people in Somalia, whilst the BBC reports on how the 2013 floods in the UK will be remembered.
